Geothermal energy supplies less than 1% of globalelectricity today. The International Energy Agency estimates thatnext-generation systems could cover global demand 140 times over. The physicsis proven. What stands between the two numbers is building the full system thatspans geology, drilling, high-voltage engineering, subsurface modelling andproject development. No single company holds all of it.
That is why collaborative effort is the fastest route togeothermal energy at scale. In a new article, Telura CTO and co-founder Andrew Welling explains how it works in practice: Telura owns the Electric Impulse Drilling (EID) core and orchestrates the surrounding disciplines to build the fullsystem. Our strong research base consists of TU Dresden, Karlsruhe Institute ofTechnology, ETH Zurich and TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and our recent agreementwith SPRIND funds the stage between a working prototype and a system that goesinto the ground.
